This 78 hour clinical course of instruction builds upon the skills and knowledge gained in didactic instruction during Levels I and II. Students will gain experience in the decontamination process for instruments, reassembling sets, and reprocessing during a three day clinical rotation in the instrument room. In addition students will also participate in transporting and positioning patients for surgery, in prepping and draping, manipulating retractors, and in setting up sterile fields for a variety of procedures. Also included is a two day clinical rotation in the endoscopy unit. Four hours of observation in the operating room are also included. (This occurred prior to entrance into the surgical technology program.)
